October 20, 2005 (from Kimberly)
Since we have last written so much has happened on the “Home Front.” This summer Dave and I found some time to get away and be with each other, of course it required that we hop on a boat to Bermuda but how can I complain about that?! We had a great time resting on the ocean and beautiful landscape of Bermuda for seven days. We are both back to the daily grind of work this Fall. This is year four for Dave on campus and every year seems to bring a lot of new faces to GI. The students are always a joy to see and really bring a lightened spirit to my sometimes stressful work life. I have a new position which is challenging me on a daily basis as I have assumed the management role over the department that I have worked in for almost three years now. This move will soon lead to less travel which means more time at home with Dave, the students and our new cats. That’s right I said cats as in multiple - Sebastian and Emma Claire . While we still hold that we are in fact dog people, a golden retriever simply would not fit into our little apartment or our hectic travel schedules. Some are probably thinking that pets are the first step to children and while you are correct that desire is going to be fulfilled for us by two of our best friends both having children in December! What joy life brings us. Please pray for us as we continue to seek God’s direction and peace amidst the busyness of the daily grind. ... The challenge of both serving as the Director for the Charlotte Greek Conference (2.17-19) AND heading up our local recruiting efforts is becoming evident. Pray for my focus and endurance as I try to do both well.

... Student leader partnership in recruiting for Conference has been difficult. Pray that they would take risks in inviting thier friends to this weekend.

... We are taking the idea of "being fully ALIVE," a step further this semester by tackling what "faith as a way of life" looks like.

... My schedule is packed this semester, as I am discipling 19 men and women and leading three 'team ministry' meetings each week. Pray for my leadership of those students. Also pray that leaders would step up to the challenge to lead their area of ministry focus well.
